At the age of 16, Ryan got his start in racing after growing up around the sport for years. Ryan would become a third generation racer after his grandfather, Jack, would try his hand at racing before turning to the business side. Ryan's father, John, would race for multiple years and eventually become a crew member for many successful drivers. Currently, Ryan is the driver of the Elegant Exteriors #20 and the Belmont's Garage #14.
